SCHOLARSHIPS 1998-1999

The Open Society Institute welcomes applications from citizens of Russia for the following scholarships, funded by the Open Society Institute and Foreign Commonwealth Office:

1. Nine-month scholarships for posgraduate research at Oxford University. Avards may be held for study in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences or public health/policy related areas of Medical Sciences. Scholars may not normally register for a degree of the University although suitably qualified candidates may be able to register for the University's Diploma in Jewish Studies or MSc in Environmental Change and Management (12 months).

2. One twelve-months scholarship at York University for an MA in Political Philosophy (the Idea of Political Toleration).

3. Three month scholarships for study in Applied Social Studies at Oxford University for persons working for governmental or public bodies, who wish to carry out a research project on a topic of direct relevance to the development or functioning of that body.

All scholarships will cover university fees and basic living expenses for one person. Travel to and from the UK is also paid.

Applicants should have excellent academic qualifications, a clear and precise study proposal and fluent command of the English language.
