	THE PERPETUATION OF THE MEMORY OF PROMINENT SCIENTISTS In view of petitions of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, administration of the Sovetsky district of the city of Novosibirsk, and on the basis of the decisions of the City Commission on Names, and according to Section 6 of the Federal Law on General Principles of the Local Government of the Russian Federation, the City Administration of Novosibirsk has issued the resolution on the installation of memorial plaques dedicated to A.A. Trofimuk, Ch.B. Borukaev, and A.B. Soktoev.

	VACANCIES
	OMSK – VLADIVOSTOK: INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP VIII International Scientific Workshop on Integration of the Archaeological and Ethnographical Research is scheduled for September, 12-15 1999 in Vladivistok. The event will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of A.Dul’zon and 110th anniversary of S.Shirokogorov.
	NEW EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES ON THE EVE OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM International Congress on the New Technologies in the Research and Education on the Eve of the Third Millenium was held in Novosibirsk on November, 22-25 1999. The meeting held in the framework of the project of Federal Specialized Programme of the State Support of the Integration of High Education and Basic Science in 1997-2000. The Programme has a status of the Presidential Programme (FSP Integration) and the Russian Foundation of Basic Research.
	NOVOSIBIRSK NEWS
	IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE INTEGRATION PROGRAMME Joint meeting of the Scientific Councils of the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Department of Philosophy of the Novosibirsk State University was held in the end-November. The meeting discussed the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the Institute and the Department signed a year before.

	VACUUM MACHINERY AND SPACE PROJECTS Over the past ten years the Experimental Scientific and Technological and Educational Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (former Experimental Plant) for the first time has reached the level of commercial viability in the third quarter of 1999. This was mainly due to the restoration of the clean vacuum assembly line and the production of high-tech super high vacuum items ordered by the Institute of Semiconductor Physics. These include the vacuum systems to test the technological equipment prior to its operation in the open space and the systems for laser purification of various materials.
