	INVITATION TO THE SCIENTIFIC SESSION OF THE GENERAL MEETING OF THE SB RAS AND SB RAMS From November 25 to November 26, scientific session of the General Meeting of the SB RAS and SB RAMS will take place in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
	STEPS OF INNOVATION RUSH Consideration of potentialities of expansion sphere of innovation activities may be called the main question in the agenda of the SB RAS Presidium meeting of November 5. STROKES FOR THE PORTRAIT November, 19 is the birthday of Academician M.A.Lavrentiev (1900-1980), world- famous mathematician and mechanics scientist, science organizer, founder, the first Chairman, and then the Honorary Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

	ELECTRONIC MEANS AND SYSTEMS OF CONTROL All-Russian Scientific and Practical conference titled so has been held at the end of October at the Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radio Electronics.
	SUPPORT OF INNOVATIONS At the end of October the Coordination Council for Investments of the Tomsk Regional Administration has considered a number of business-projects pretending to financial support from Regional target foundation for development and support of small-scale business.
	SCHOOL OF PUBLIC POLICY The first seminar of this school has been held recently in Listvianka.
	AMERICAN OBSERVERS IN SEVERSK According to the information of the Public Relations Office of the Siberian Chemical Industrial Complex, November, 9 delegation of representatives of the USA Ministry of Power Industry has arrived to Seversk (Tomsk Region) with observant visit.
	THE TSU FOR SCHOOLS In the beginning of November at the Tomsk State University the first certificates on raising the level of professional skill have been received by coordinators and methodologists of regional resource centers, the teachers from the districts of the Tomsk Region.
	INTERNATIONAL INTEREST IN METANE OF KUZBASS Works on the extraction and utilization of methane of coal beds and on the opportunities of business development in this field are actively carried out in Kemerovo Region. Important role in the research fulfilment is played by the "Coal-Methane" International Center.

	SWEET HOME WHERE EVERYBODY IS WELCOMED In May, 1963 the Bureau of the Presidium of the USSR SB AS has adopted a resolution «On the organization of the House of Scientists». The document was signed by Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences Academician M.A.Lavrentiev.
	IN MEMORY OF COLLEAGUE On November 7, 2003, prominent scientist in the field of explosion-assisted processing of materials Valeri Aleksandrovich Simonov has died after long illness.
	IT WAS EASY WITH HIM ... On October, 24, 2003 scientific secretary of the Institute Permafrost the SB RAS, Candidate Sc. (Engineering) Afanasi Afanasievich Mandarov has suddenly died on the 69th year of his life.
