	ATTAKING TUBERCULOSIS May, 19 an out session of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences has been held at the Novosibirsk Scientific Research Institute for Tuberculosis of the RF Ministry of Health, the only one from five institutes to the east of Ural working in the similar scientific and applied field.

	STOREHOUSE OF UNIQUE BOOKS BY GEOGRAPHERS Rather curious book is published about scientific library of the Irkutsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (former library of the Siberian, since 1877 — the East - Siberian Department of the Russian Geographic Society). Its author is director of the library A.Kovaleva working there for more than 40 years.

	VERSES IN THE WAR In the May issue of "SiS" (N 17-18), on the front page a poem by E.Shkliarevski devoted to the Day of Victory has been published. Today, on the eve of the date of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (June, 22, 1941), we publish one more poem «Maternal love» with an account how was this poem born, as well as some facts from war life of the author.
