	CONGRATULATIONS ON THE DAY OF RUSSIAN SCIENCE
	EXHIBITION ON THE OCCASION OF THE DAY OF THE SCIENCE February, 2 an opening of the exhibition "Innovations: economics, social sphere, science, education" has taken place at the Irkutsk International exhibition center "SibExpoCenter".
	NEW ECOLOGICAL ATLAS On the occasion of the Day of Science a novel fundamental work of Irkutsk scientists "Atlas. Irkutsk Region: ecological conditions of development" has been published. The first copy has been presented January, 27 at the annual session of the Institute of Geography of the SB RAS.
	THE TOMSK SCIENTIFIC CENTER AND TOMSK POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY FORMING STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP As the curtain of the last year fell, Rector of the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute Professor Yuri Poholkov was handed with regalia of the Honorary Citizen of Tomsk Region by the speaker of the Regional Duma Boris Maltsev at the TPU International Cultural Center.

	BEHIND THE PASSES A long time ago the field season has ended. Having returned from distant wanderings along the roads of Mongolia, the participants of the International Complex Archeologic Expedition of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the SB RAS headed by Academician Viacheslav Molodin, are recollecting the last days, summing up at the meetings of sectors and planning the further prospects.
	THE BOATS OF TAVOLGAN At the Iskitim Disrict of the Novosibirsk Region, perfectly streamlined dugouts (slotted boats) are still demanded among the residential population; the tradition of those manufacturing has come from the Middle Ages.
	THE ATMOSPHERE HAS NO LIMITS From the beginning of the 90ths of the last century the experts of the Institute of Atmospheric Optics of the SB RAS have seriously dealt with the problems of Baikal. Tomsk dwellers have first started to study its atmosphere fully.
	NEW MATERIAL FOR CONTACT LENSES At the St.-Petersburg Branch of the G.K.Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the SB RAS the first domestic silica-hydrogel material is developed for soft contact lenses of prolonged use.
	WORLD SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL PROGRESS: ASSESSMENTS OF CHINESE ACADEMICIANS January, 13 in Peking, ten of the most significant novelties of scientific and technical progress in China and the world of 2004 have been mentioned, those were determined by voting among 584 Academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Chinese People's Republic and Academy of Engineering Sciences of China.
	A BOOK MORE ABOUT WONDERLAKE Publishing house "Regina Poloniae" has issued a book about Baikal, written by professors of the Silesian University T.Shchipek, S.Vika and Director of the Institute of Geography of the SB RAS, Corresponding Member of the RAS V.Snytko.
	HISTORY IN PHOTOS For 49 years Yakutian indigene Vladimir Sergeevich Merzhevich, engineer of the Department of the Scientific and Technical Information, works for the sake of domestic science at the Yakut Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Aeronomy of the SB RAS; earlier he headed the Institute’s photo-laboratory.
