	THROUGH THE WAR TOWARDS SCIENCE This anniversary year we especially often recollect everyone who was burdened with incredible severities of the wartime, who could not see the sun of the victorious day and to hear victorious marches, and those to whom the destiny has saved life and allowed to return to peaceful work.
	AT THE PRICE OF MILLIONS LIVES... Thousands memoirs, belles-lettres, scientific and historical books are written on the war history and nevertheless, a huge number of problems is waiting for their researchers. One of such problems concerns the USSR population losses within the Great Patriotic War.
	LEGENDARY TSEC "START" is 20 April, 1 the A.P.Ershov Institute of Informatics Systems of the SB RAS has celebrated a modest anniversary, 15 years from the date of its creation. The Institute is young, but its history begins in 1958 when the future Academician Andrei Ershov has founded the Department of Programming at the Institute of Mathematics together with Computation Center of the SB AS. There are many famous achievements under the belt of the Department (then the Groups of the Comp.Center Departments, then the Institute), but one of them is especially noteworthy. It is Temporary Scientific and Engineering Collective "START" founded on April, 1, 1985 for three-year term in order to accomplish especially important tasks for our country.
	THE THIRD ALL-RUSSIAN POWER ENGINEERING FORUM "RUSSIAN FUEL AND ENERGY COMPLEX IN 21st CENTURY" In Moscow has passed The Third All-Russian Power Engineering Forum "Russian fuel and energy complex in 21st century". The Power Engineering Forum is a public discussion of the problems connected with fuel and energy complex. Its purpose is to develop balanced approaches to power engineering, proceeding from general tasks of the complex.

	FOR CONSTRUCTIVE COOPERATION April, 20 the Chairman of the Siberian branch of the RAS Academician N.Dobretsov has met with trade-union activists of the Novosibirsk Scientific Center.
	ALL-RUSSIAN OLYMPIAD OF SCHOOLCHILDREN ON INFORMATICS From April, 17 to April, 23 in Novosibirsk passed the final stage of the All- Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren on informatics.

	DISSERTATION IS NOT END IN ITSELF, BUT A RECOGNITION OF SCIENTIFIC SUCCESS Two dissertation councils are founded and successfully working now at the Institute of Mongolology, Buddhology and Tibetology of the SB RAS (Ulan-Ude) located in the Buryat Scientific Center of the SB RAS.
	EDUCATION AS THE BASIS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF ABORIGINAL PEOPLES OF SIBERIA From April 26 to April 28 an International scientific and practical conference titled so has been held at the Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
	"SIEMENS" IN NOVOSIBIRSK: A SHOW HAVE TAKEN PLACE April, 21 at the NSC House of Scientists a meeting has been held of the delegation of the "Siemens" Company with working group of the SB RAS Presidium. The visitors from Germany have been presented with an impressive series of the developments of the Siberian Branch already applied in industry or ready for this.

	AMERICANS WILL HELP TO CONSTRUCT REPLACING CAPACITIES One of these days in Seversk of the Tomsk Region a Russian-American conference has been held devoted to the construction of new power capacities in this town.
