	AT THE PRESIDIUM OF THE SB RAS
	LAVRENTIEV READINGS 2005 This year the 105th anniversary is celebrated from the birthday of Academician M.A.Lavrentiev (1900-1980), outstanding Russian mathematician and mechanician, founder of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences. The anniversary year began in May with the 6th International Conference "Lavrentiev readings on mathematics, mechanics and physics".
	SIBERIAN POWER ENGINEERING CONGRESS Fuel and energy complex (FEC) is the major element of Russian economy of Russia, a significant part of the world system of power supply. In order to discuss the principal questions of the FEC innovation development it is planned to hold the Siberian Power Engineering Congress from June 7 to June 8, 2005 in Novosibirsk.
	3D WORLD At the symposium devoted to the results of the International Year of Mountains, an intense interest of scientists was caused by the report on the perspective system of mountain nature management implemented in the Republic Altai.
	THE MOST IMPORTANT IS THE WEATHER AT YOUR HOME The researchers of the L.A.Melentiev Institute of Energy Systems of the SB RAS have won the Governor’s Prize of the Irkutsk Region in the field of science and engineering and the rank of the Winners of 2005 for their work "Increase of the efficiency of heat supply systems of the cities of the Irkutsk Region".
	STROKE OF LASER ON THE CLOUDS The Tomsk Institute of Atmospheric Optics has come back from the Fifth Moscow International Shop of Innovations and Investments with a worthy tribute: the work "Copper bromide vapor lasers" has been awarded with a silver medal.
	A KEY TO THE PARTNERSHIP There is a key kept at the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine of the SB RAS. Potentially, any researcher of the Institute at any time can use this key in order to work in a perfectly equipped laboratory. However it is not so simple to do it. In fact this laboratory is located in the city of Lubek (Germany), and the mentioned above Institute is in Novosibirsk. The laboratory is titled "Lubeсk-Novosibirsk Laboratory" and is a product of fruitful cooperation between German and Russian scientists.
	OUR SCIENTIFIC SCHOOL The report of Director of the Irkutsk Institute of Chemistry of the SB RAS Academician Boris Trofimov "Acetylenes in organic synthesis: new achievements" has been heard at one of the recent sessions of the SB RAS Presidium with a great interest. The school of Academician B.Trofimov systematically, already more than 30 years running, develops chemistry of these compounds, studies general laws of fundamental reactions and their derivatives.
	BUSINESS PROPOSALS OF COAL CHEMISTS Coal chemistry as one of the most important of chemical disciplines in the practical sense is focused on the development of efficient processing of solid fossil fuel into valuable chemical products and materials. Let’s consider some basic reasons about the market variant of the development of research and industrial activities in the field of coal chemistry.
	OVERCOMING THE RESISTANCE At the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics the Youth Conference on stability and turbulence of the flows of homogeneous and heterogeneous fluids has been held, organized by the ITAM of the SB RAS, the Novosibirsk State Architecture and Building University (NSABU) and the NSU.
	TO FEEL A TASTE OF IMMENSE SCIENTIFIC LIFE The 21st All-Russian Youth Conference "Lithosphere structure and geodynamics" has been held at the Institute of Earth’s Crust of the SB RAS.
