	AT THE GENERAL MEETING OF THE SB RAS December, 13 a scientific session of General Meeting of the SB RAS has taken place in Novosibirsk. The problems of non-traditional power engineering were the session topic.
	CASE FOR THE BENEFIT OF ECOLOGY The Presidium of the RAS has awarded the V.A.Koptiug Prize for 2005 to Candidate Sc. (Engineering) Andrei Zagoruyko, Doctor Sc. (Chemistry) Zinfer Ismagilov (Institute of Catalysis of the SB RAS) and Academician Gennadi Sakovich (Institute of Chemical Power Technologies of the SB RAS) for the work "Development and introduction of new catalytic technologies for preservation of the environment and recovery of high-energy materials".
	STUDYING THE DEVELOPMENT PROBLEMS OF THE NORTH The Institute of Northern Development of the SB RAS, the first Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Tyumen Region is 20.
	PRIORITIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC YOUTH Successful development of science implies not only regular significant investments into material base of research, but also constant updating of the stuff potential. In fact, in quickly varying society it is necessary to use actively both the saved up knowledge and experience of the senior generation, and a fresh view of young people, who have absorbed the achievements of the last years.

	MATHEMATICAL MODELLING: FROM TSUNAMI WAVES TO INFORMATION ATTACKS From October, 26 to October, 28 the 8th All-Russian conference "Modern methods of mathematical modelling of natural and man-caused accidents" has been held in Kemerovo.
	"EVOLUTION OF LIFE ON THE EARTH", COVERED IN TOMSK The 3rd International symposium "Evolution of life on the Earth" has been held at the Tomsk State University. It has drawn attention of the scientists of various specialties: geologists, palaeontologists, biologists, philosophers.
	GENES OF FAR ANCESTORS The knowledge of molecular genetic mechanisms of a living organism reveals the causes of the infringements of men’s health of, opens the pages of the history of mankind development. The Laboratory of Molecular Bases of Animals’ Genetics of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the SB RAS is just engaged in this scientific field.
