	SIBERIA: THE ENERGY FUTURE OF RUSSIA The Second Siberian Energy congress opened April, 11 at the Large Hall of the House of Scientists of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok, is devoted to the fiftieth anniversary of the Siberian Branch of the RAS and the 70th anniversary of the Novosibirsk Region.
	SUNLIGHT AT THE END OF A TUNNEL March, 20 a meeting «Legislative maintenance of the development of photoenergy engineering of Russia» has taken place in the State Duma in Moscow.
	THE VISIT OF THE JAPANESE AMBASSADOR April, 9 Japanese delegation headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Russia has arrived to Novosibirsk with a familiarizing visit.
	THE MEDAL FOR THE STRUGGLE AGAINST TUBERCULOSIS The scientific resercher of the Department of Immunottherapeutic Preparations of the SSC "Vector" Anton Sivkov has received a medal of the 4th Moscow International Congress «Biotechnology: the state and the prospects of development».
	ORBITAL STATIONS AND MODERN COSMONAUTICS Sharp rivalry between the USSR and the USA in the first decades of the Space Age has allowed to achieve the greatest successes in a very brief space of time: to pass the way from elementary satellites to large orbital complexes.
	THE SPACE ICE HAS BEGUN TO BREAK So, metaphorically, one could define the beginning of a new large-scale stage of the development of the aerospace branch in Russia in the thrice anniversary year for cosmonautics: the 150th anniversary from K.Tsiolkovski birth date, the 100th anniversary of S.Korolev and the 50th anniversary since the first Soviet artificial Earth satellite launching (1957).
	GLONASS IS DEVELOPED Russia up to the end of 2007 will carry out the launching of six space vehicles of the GLONASS system of global positioning.
	AMERICA STANDS FOR THE LEADERSHIP IN SPACE The USA President has asked the Congress to increase by 25 percent the charges for the military space programs in 2008.
	THE FLOOD IS EXPECTED TO BE QUIET The spring in Siberia is the time of "great water» and flooding. The Novosibirsk Region, according to the opinion of experts, on this point is rather favorable territory.
	CARBON NANOTUBES: FROM MILLIGRAMS TO KILOGRAMS Slightly more than a year passed since at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the SB RAS the Laboratory of Nanomaterials Physical Chemistry has been founded in order to solve urgent problems of this rapidly developing field.
	ON THE EDGE OF ATTACK Experimental manufacture of the Institute of Nuclear Physics (EM INP) was created as one of the basic divisions practically simultaneously with scientific laboratories. Today the EM INP is proceeding with making more and more complex experimental installations and systems for the laboratories of the Institute, simultaneously carrying out a great deal of work under foreign contract orders.
	FROM THEORY TO INNOVATION PROJECTS In due time, when our country made spurts in the development of new technologies, a Department of Robotics, Automation and Material science has been founded at the Irkutsk computer center of the SB RAS.
	"BIRCHWOOD": FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FORESTS Krasnoyarsk region is famed not only for industrial enterprises and Academic Institutes of the Scientific Center, but also for unique nature, extensive large forests, rich flora and fauna. However if in the scientific sphere the situation has recently become more or less stable, with the forests it isn’t so simple at all: alongside with the deterioration of environmental conditions there is a permanent destruction of green plantings.
	DEVOTION TO SCIENCE April, 13 Gennadi Viktorovich Sakovich, outstanding scientist, Academician of the RAS, the Hero of Socialist Labor celebrates his birthday.
