	THE MOMENTS OF OUR HISTORY Here are two photos those have fixed two moments of Academician Michail Alekseevich Lavrentev's life, the first Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences. November, 19 (1900) is his birthday, and there is a pleasant occassion to recollect the founder of large-scale Siberian Academic science.
	THE MYTHS ABOUT М.А. LAVRENTIEV It's just necessary to define: the word "myth" is used here not in the elevated sense of a legend about something wonderful, but in the second, figurative one such as "figment".
	DEDICATION IN LIFE November, 19, on the birthday of "the two great Michails", Lomonosov and Lavrentiev the traditional holiday "Initiation into PhysMathScoolchildren" was held at the large Hall of the House of Scientists.

	FROM THE GROUND - TO WATER ELEMENTS November, 23, 2008 Arcadi Anatolievich Atavin, Director of the Novosibirsk Branch of the Institute for Water and Environmental Problems of the SB RAS, Candidate Sc. (Engineering), Honored Veteran of the SB RAS is 70.
	THERMOPHYSICS ONLINE In the beginning of November of this year the largest scientific forum "2008 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition" organized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was held in Boston (USA).
	FLAME RESEARCHERS MET IN BRUXELLES 25th anniversary of the International seminar on flame structure.
	"THE MALTSEV READINGS 2008" Traditional conference "The Maltsev Readings" was held from November, 11 to November, 13 at the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the SB RAS.
	THE RESHETNEV READINGS The 12th International scientific conference "The Reshetnev readings" was held at the Siberian State Space University in Krasnoyarsk. Initially this forum has been designed for students, post-graduates, young lecturers and experts in the field of space-rocket engineering. Now it is gathering the leading experts of this branch, not only Russian ones.
	THE ALL-RUSSIAN CONFERENCE OF YOUNG INFORMETICIANS October, 28 to 30 the 9th All-Russian conference of young scientists on mathematical modeling and information technologies took place in Kemerovo.
	MASTERING THE NEWEST METHODS November, 18 at the Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics of the SB RAS an opening of the 10th All-Russian school-conference of young scientists "Urgent questions of thermophysics and physical hydraulic gas dynamics" become already traditional.
	ABOUT REMOTE PAST OF THE EARTH In October the All-Russian meeting "Evolution of lithosphere of the Central-Asian mobile belt (from ocean to continent)" wasw held at the Institute of the Earth's Crust of the SB RAS.
	IN MEMORY OF THE FRIEND AND THE TEACHER November, 14 the Anniversary scientific readings in memory of Academician I.A.Terskov took place at the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Physics.
	ROSNANO SEMINAR IN THE ACADEMGORODOK November, 14 a seminar on the preparation of innovation projects and the submission of applications to ROSNANO organized by the Russian Nanotechnologies Corporation (ROSNANO) together with the Novosibirsk Regional Administration, Presidium of the SB RAS and with assistance of Technopark of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok has been held at the Exhibition Center of the SB RAS.
	SCIENCE - SMALL-SCALE BUSINESS - TARGET PROGRAMS November, 17 to 18 the All-Russian scientific and practical conference "The problems of activization of the participation of small-scale business companies in the realization of Federal target programs" took place at the Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics of the SB RAS.
	PROPERTY OF WORLD CULTURE November, 7, 2008 there was a marked event in the cultural life of the two countries at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Mongolian People's Republic: archeologic collections from the diggings of 2006 over the terrains of Mongolia restored at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the SB RAS have been passed to the Institute of Archeology of the MPR AS for custody.
	ON THE PEAK OF COOPERATION The cooperation with foreign partners is one of necessary elements in the working of the Institute "International Tomography Center", located in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. The trips of the employees to the Europe and America for the participation in conferences and other scientific events already became a habitual thing.
	ABOUT ANCIENT MINING METALLURGY IN TUVA A strange feeling arises when somewhere in a geological route in deserted places, sometimes among an impassable thicket one suddenly find out holes overgrown with ancient trees, dumps with fine fragments of copper ores of green malachite, dark blue azurite, and sometimes slag pieces near them. First of all you accept these traces of human hands for recent ones, but then suddenly you perceive that there is the evidence of the work of our far ancestors.
	BAIKAL IS STORMED AGAIN Several years ago the press awakely wrote about the attempts of the power engineers of the Irkutsk Region to gain the right for changing the level of Baikal more, than it is permitted now. These attempts are renewed.
	ABOUT REAL ROLE OF BAIKAL LAKE IN THE WORLD FRESH WATER BALANCE The idea that in the Baikal Lake which is national pride of our country, 20 % of the World or 90% of Russian fresh water reserves are concentrated has strongly taken roots in the mass conscience of the Russians . This idea (in full or in part) often appears in the Russian press. It has become so usual that one repeat it with almost no reflection.

	HE SILENT EXILE The Michail's Day in the Academgorodok has become a tradition. The ritual is based on an obvious sympathy of the inhabitants of our unusual settlement: the coincidence of the names of the two great scientists and organizers of science in Russia: Michail Lomonosov and Michail Lavrentiev. Another Michail, Speranski, could be ranged within the same series at no stretch. This great statesman was recognized in one's time an administrative genius of Russia. Among its merits, historians invariably mention his short, but rather efficient activity in the transformation of Siberia.
