	BIOLOGISTS AND PERMAFROST The Institute for Biological Problems of Cryolithozone of SB RAS is 60.
	SYMPOSIUM AND JUBILEE In early October, two significant events have occurred at the Institute of Monitoring of Climatic and Ecological Systems (IMCES) of SB RAS. From October 1 through October 3, here has been held the VIII All-Russian Symposium “Environmental and Climate Monitoring: КОСК-2012” and the celebration dedicated to the 40th anniversary of IMCES of SB RAS has taken place on October 5.
	NOBEL-2012 A Press Conference on the 2012 Nobel prizes award has been held at the SB RAS Presidium on October 16.
	ARCTIC, IT’S SERIOUSLY AND FOR THE LONG HAUL A delegation of the Siberian Branch has returned from Yamal, where it has participated in celebrations on the occasion of launching the Bovanenkovsky gas condensate field. At the Press Conference held at the SB RAS Presidium they have told about prospects for works of the Siberian scientists in Arctic regions.
	CREATIVITY IN ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND ETHNOGRAPHIC MEASURING The International Scientific Conference “Creativity in archeological and ethnographic measuring”, devoted to the 95th anniversary of the beginning of researches of Omsk station - a unique archeological complex in the territory of Omsk, will be held in Omsk from October 16 through October 19, 2013.
	HOW TO ACHIEVE THE HARMONIZATION OF INTERETHNIC RELATIONS? The IV International School of Young Ethnosociologists “Interethnic relations: experience of research and harmonization (ethnosocial aspect)” has been held in Novosibirsk from September 15 through September 20.
	FROM ANCIENT OCEAN – TO CONTINENT The Meeting “Geodynamic evolution of the lithosphere of Central-Asian mobile belt (from ocean to continent)”, summing up the field season, has been traditionally held at the Institute of the Earth's Crust of SB RAS in mid-October.
	GEOLOGY AND DANGEROUS TERRESTRIAL AND EXTRATERRESTRIAL PHENOMENA The All-Russian Meeting “Modern geodynamics of the Central Asia and hazardous natural processes: results of research on a quantitative basis” and the All-Russian Youth School on geodynamics have simultaneously been held in Irkutsk in late September.
	PROBLEMS OF NATIONAL AND TECHNOGENIC SAFETY The IV All-Russian Scientific Conference “Safety and survivability of technical systems” has been held in Krasnoyarsk from October 9 through October 13.
	A STAKE IN THE INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH The V All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists “Materials science, technologies and ecology in the third millennium” has been held in the Tomsk Academgorodok from October 17 through October 19.
	“HISTORICAL MEMORY IS VERY IMPORTANT...” The All-Russian Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference “Siberia in historical perspective and problems of preserving the peoples and cultures”, devoted to the Year of Russian history, will be held in Novosibirsk on November 9-10. A Press Conference with participants of the forthcoming scientific forum was held at the SB RAS Presidium at the end of October.
	“HISTORY OF GREAT CELESTIAL EMPIRE” FROM GENGHIS KHAN TO KHUBILAI KHAN The Publishing House of Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of SB RAS (Novosibirsk) has issued the first volume of the Manchu version of the annalistic chronicle – “History of Great Celestial Empire”.

	WALK ALONE Opening a monument to the musician Mikhail Zuev, as well as to the lyrical hero of his most popular song – “Walk Alone”, which can be considered an informal hymn of the Academgorodok, has taken place in Academgorodok on October 28.
