	PROTEST ACTIVITY DOES NOT GO DOWN Following the rally, organized by the Trade Union of NSC SB RAS on October 4 near the V.A. Koptyug monument, the Novosibirsk Branch of All-Russian Movement “Essence of Time” has arranged a meeting against the RAS pseudo-reform and in defense of science and education, which was attended by representatives of several Siberian cities, including Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Omsk and Barnaul. The meeting took place near the Novosibirsk Globus Theater and the monument to Vladimir Vysotsky on October 6.

	SPSL IS 95 The Interregional Scientific Conference with International participation “Library and Reader: Dialogue in Time” has been held in Novosibirsk during the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of SB RAS from September 24 through September 26. It has become one of the largest Russian scientific forums, attended by representatives of leading libraries – from the Urals, Siberia, the Far East, CIS and non-CIS states (Kazakhstan, Mongolia).
	THE YEAR OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION The International Scientific Conference “Baikal - a strategic resource of the planet in the 21-st Century”, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Buryatia, with the active participation of the Baikal Institute of Nature Management of SB RAS has been held in Ulan-Ude from July 8 through July 10.
	THE IX INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF MONGOLIAN PLATEAU AND ADJACENT AREAS” This Conference has been held in Ulan-Ude in the framework of the Year of Environmental Protection from August 20 through August 22.
	ISSUES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION The regular VII Workshop of young Russian scientists “Issues of sustainable development of the region” has been held from June 26 through June 30.
	GEOLOGIST, GEOPHYSICIST, TECTONICS EXPERT, ROMANTIC, PHILOSOPHER October 3rd marks 80 years since the birth of outstanding Siberian scientist, Doctor of Sciences (Geologicy and Mineralogy), Professor, former Chief Scientist of the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy, a specialist in the field of geophysics and geotectonics B.M. Chikov (1933 - 2011).
