	RESULTS OF PUBLISHING ACTIVITIES OF SB RAS IN 2013 AND ITS PLANS FOR 2014-2016 Over the past five years the publishing program of Siberian Branch of RAS has been funded with a surplus, covering the inflation and enabling us to provide effective support for the publication of costly monographs and production of basic and additional volumes of journals.

	PHOTONICS-2014 The IX International Specialized Exhibition for Optical, Laser and Optoelectronic Technology – “Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics-2014” has been held in Moscow from March 25 through March 27, 2014.
	FROM INVENTION TO PATENT: TIME FOR OPEN DISCUSSIONS An educational workshop “Intellectual Property: Practical and Informational Aspects”, aimed at promoting the issues related to the sphere of intellectual property has been held at the SPSTL of SB RAS in late April.

	18 MILLIONS FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES The Tomsk regional engineering center (TREC) has announced a competition for co-financing the costs of engineering services for the companies participating in innovative territorial cluster “Pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and information technologies of the Tomsk region”.

	THE MAN WHO SAVED THE LEADER In late April, the Novosibirsk region was visited by the delegation, headed by Ambassador of the DPRK in the Russian Federation. Korean diplomats laid a wreath at the tomb of National Hero of the DPRK Ya.T. Novichenko, who saved Comrade Kim Il Sung from the imminent death. This year, it’s been 100 years since our countryman was born.
