	A CONFERENCE AT YAKUTSK Scientific and technical conference "Science on design cold-resistance at the turn of centuries" devoted to 40th anniversary of beginning of studies on the machine and steel-work cold-resistance problems in Republic Saha (Yakutia) has been held at the Institute of Physical and Technical Problems of the North of the SB RAS.
	PRINCIPLE OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT For several years the Institute of Northern Development Problems of the Tyumen Scientific Center of the SB RAS is actively propagandizing ideas of sustainable development as well as conducting scientific and practical work in the field of stability evaluation and forecast of development of northern territories using the example of the Tyumen Region. December 24 the City Conference on sustainable development of the Tyumen City has been held.
	REMOTE TRAINING: REALITY AND PROSPECTS Conference "Remote training in the AltSTU: organization, technologies, quality" has been held at the Altai State Technical University. Representatives of the administrations, educational institutions and organizations of the cities and districts of the Region have taken part in the conference.
	WHERE IS OUR CIVILIZATION GOING TO Five years ago outstanding scientist and organizer of science, great citizen of Russia and the Earth Valentin Afanasievich Koptiug has left this world. During the last years of his life he has done everything in his power for development and propagation of the ideas of sustainable, cataclysm-free development of mankind. This year new international conference on environment and development, quite often called "Rio+10" will be held at Johannesburg (Republic of South Africa). What of new have been introduced during last years into the ideas of sustainable development and their practical realization?
	GENOME AS AN HISTORICAL DOCUMENT Where is "the cradle of mankind" on the Earth? This question always excited scientific community. Today molecular biologists and genetics have joined their efforts with the studies of archeologists, historians, ethnographers and anthropologists. It is possible, that the human genome is some kind of a textbook on the history of the "Homo Sapiens" species.
