	HAPPY SPRING HOLIDAY, OUR DEARS! GREETINGS OF THE PRESIDIUM OF SB RAS
	BROAD PROFILE While visiting Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry, I have often heard about an interesting application developed by the group headed by Candidate Sc. (Chemistry) I. Mikhailova. But Irina Fedorovna does not like publicity at all, so she has declined all proposals of the interview. This time I have managed to talk her into the meeting telling that it is unfair to refuse on the eve of the holiday praising the overwhelming women’s power. Moreover, we will talk about the work of the group consisting of four beautiful women.
	DOCTOR OF ECONOMICS After the graduation from the Department of Economics, Moscow State University, Natalya Kravchenko works in the Department of the Industrial Management of the IEOIP of SB RAS. She is also teaching special course “Investment Management” for the students of the Department of Economics of Novosibirsk State University.
	CARBON SORBENTS ARE THE MATERIALS OF THE FUTURE First successful defense of the new millenium was held during the session of the Dissertation Council of the Institute of Coal and Coal Chemistry of SB RAS on February 15, 2000. “Production and application of the carbon sorbents from the coals of Kuznetsk basin” is the title of the dissertation of the nominate for the degree of the Candidate Sc. (Technology) Valentina Sergeevna Medyanik.
	THE HOSTESS OF THE UNIQUE MUSEUM Natalya Ivanovna Fedorova is the director and founder of the new Museum of Coal of the Kemerovo Scientific Center. The Chairman of the Presidium of KemSC, Corresponding Member G. Gritsko introduces N. Fedorova as a scrupulous researcher, expert and thorough organizer, publicist with an philosophic trend.
	THE WARMING LIGHT Beautiful and charming Olga Andreevna Kislova is working at the Scientific and Publishing Center of the United Institute of Geology of SB RAS.
	ON THE TOPICAL PROBLEMS OF SIBERIA After the graduation from MSU in 1972, Natalya Mikhailovna Sysoeva was invited by V. Krotov, one of the founders of the Irkutsk Scientific Center, to move to Irkutsk. At this time, he was the head of the department of regional economics and had planned to start thorough examination of the expertise of the other countries from the point of view of Siberian economics. One of the first associates of the department was Natasha Sysoeva.
	ON THE PROBLEM OF FEMININE EQUALITY The author of this article has chosen the path of her great parents, Academicians Nikolai Evgrafovich Kochin and Pelageya Yakovlevna Poluboyarinova-Kochina. After the graduation from MSU, she used to work for the Mathematical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1979, she was honored with the Government Prize, and in 1976, she got the degree of the Doctor Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) for her contribution to the theory of filtration and gas dynamics. In the past decade, she wrote several monographs and papers together with P.Ya. Kochina. The scientific contribution of Nina Nikolaevna is itself an argument of her reasoning about the possible and necessary role of the women in social life.
	QUARTER-CENTURY IN BSC For 25 years, Candidate Sc. (Chemistry) Susanna Palitsina is working in the Buryatian Scientific Center. During the last two years, she is the scientific secretary of the Baikal Institute of Utilization of Natural Resources of SB RAS.
	REINFORCEMENT BY THE EXPLOSION Sofya Yakovleva joined the Institute of the Physico-Technical Problems of the North of SB RAS after the graduation from the Department of Physics and Mathematics of Yakutsk State University. Her first position was senior technician, and after defense she has passed through all stages of scientific growth up to the head of the Department of the Technological Processes and Science of Authorities.
	“...SIMPLY A GODDESS!” It is hard to call Marina Vasilyevna Chaikina a veteran, but nevertheless, she is a veteran, moreover, “honored veteran of SB RAS”.
	THE AWARD OF THE PRESIDIUM OF SB RAS The Presidium of the Siberian Division of RAS awarded the diploma to the worker of the experimental plant of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of SB RAS Mareicheva Anastasiya Nikolaevna for her longstanding work, devotion to science and on occasion of her 80-th anniversary.
	RUSSIAN “IRON LADY” On February 26, workmates have celebrated 80-th anniversary of Anastasiya Nikolaevna Mareicheva – the oldest machine-operator not only in the INP, but, probably in the world. “Nauka v Sibiri” has already published papers about her, but today, we have decided to give her the floor. This life is worth amusement and admiration!
	BEAUTIFUL, INTELLIGENT, RELIABLE... Doctor Sc. (Technology) A. Saprykin is a head of nearly fully “feminine” laboratory of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of SB RAS. On the eve of the International Women’s Holiday we are giving him the floor.
	FROM THE “GENERATION OF THE SIXTIES” The “Generation of the sixties”. This is how we name those who was young in 1960s, in the times of the Khrushchev’s thaw. The life of this generation includes difficulties of the wartime childhood, the bright hopes of the youth, hard years of study, and the happiness of the favorite job. It was their fortune to live in the times of Stalin, to see the fall of the personality cult, to work in the years of “stagnation”, and to experience the present times of unrest, which some people believe is the period of reforms, and others consider it to be a counter-revolution. Today, the representatives of this generation are sixty years old, too, and they have celebrated or are celebrating their 60-th anniversaries. Viktor Mikhailovich Kovenya is also of this generation, on March, 6 he will be 60.
	SOLE, BUT FIERY PASSION All-Russian Symposium will take place in Novosibirsk (the Institute of Geology and Gas of the SB RAS) in the end-March, and the International Conference will be held in Moscow (the Paleontological Institute of RAS)in April. These events are dedicated to the 100-th anniversary of the outstanding paleoecologist of the XX-th century, Professor Roman Fedorovich Gekker (1900–1991).
	ALL-RUSSIAN MEETING IN SURGUT On March 3, All-Russian meeting on the development problems of the fuel and energy complex of Russia was held in Surgut.
	“TO OIL’S HEALTH...” “NVS” has already covered the visit to Novosibirsk of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the Chairman of the Board of the largest Russian oil company “YUKOS”, and the group of its experts. During the special workshop held on February 22 in the Institute of Geology of Oil and Gas of SB RAS the discussion included the peculiarities of the oil fields of the Siberian deposits, the details of the geological and geophysical research, the new technologies employing the catalysts discovered in the Institute of Catalysis. After the workshop, Mikhail Khodorkovsky kindly agreed for the exclusive express-interview for our weekly.

	MAGIC PATCH On the eve of the Day of Defender of the Motherland the House of Scientists of NSC has organized the celebration with the concert and exhibitions of the hobby-clubs. Thankful audience, mainly senior people, were deeply touched by the care. They liked everything. Spectatresses have spent a long time looking the handicrafts of the “Vitrazh” club headed by Lyudmila Ivanovna Shcheglova.
