  The Baikal Museum SB RAS

The Baikal Museum has a possibility to carry out the investigations in the following fields of science:
Geology - prof. Alexander A. Bukharov and dr. Sergey D. Taliev;
Ichthyology and Ecology - prof. Vasily V.Smirnov ;
Botany - dr. Natalya E. Votyakova;
Electronic and information - dr. Anatoly I. Averin;
Land hydrology, hydrophysic, bottom geomorphology - dr. Vladimir A. Fialkov.

The Baikal Museum is situated on the shore of Baikal close by the outlet of the Angara River. It has a research vessel "Treskov" of 35 tons displacement and 10 days of autonomous navigation. The ship is equipped with winch, high-pressure compressor and air filter for filling SCUBA tanks. It has all the necessary diving equipment for carrying out of the investigations on the depths up to 40m. Also it has shower, toilet, caboose and berths for 10 researchers. In the building of Museum there are laboratories with hoods and equipment for primary processing of samples collected in the expeditions.

The location of the Baikal Museum just on the shore of Baikal, which is included in the list of nature objects of World's heritage, allows to carry out the investigations of the ecosystem of unique lake. They will harmonically blend with the main work of the Museum - the forming of scientific and fund collections and database of ecological system of Baikal Lake. In the Museum there is a possibility of training of students and post-graduates of geology, hydrology, ichthyology, botany and ecology of Baikal. For this purposes there is a well-equipped classroom, conference hall and the necessary teaching stuff. There is a cafe for 16 people, all kinds of electronic communications, including radio communication with ships on lake Baikal; accommodation in families, at the Inturist Hotel and the Baikal Health-Centre, at the hotel of the National Park Pribaikalsky.
