It serves as the field station and laboratory for ornithological, ichthiological, hydrobiological and parasitological purposes. The station is located in the region of nesting and mass migratory accumulations of waterfowl birds and in spawning routes of fish schools.
Special attention is given to the migration of birds and population ecology of waterfowl birds and fish of the family Cyprinidae. Trophic and parasitic relationships between invertebrates and vertebrates are studied.   The Karasuck station. The Karasuck station is situated in the south-west of the Novosibirsk region,12 km of the Karasuck town in the forest-steppe zone on the shore of the Krotovaya Ljaga lake.

It serves as the field basis to the biologists of different institutions and specialities to study the forest-steppe zone. Special attention is given to the biocenoses of the lake depressions, as the main landscape constituent. The proper scientific trend is to breed rare and disappearing species of animals and birds.
