Monakhovo field station.
The village of Monakhovo is located on Svyatoi Nos peninsular, on the shoreline of Chivyrkui Bay of Lake Baikal, within the territory of Zabaikalsky State National Park. It is 300 km from Ulan-Ude, 40 km from Ust-Barguzin village - the office of the National Park, 6 km by water and 18 km by land from the Kurbulik fisheries village.
Monakhovo field station is the only one within the territory of Zabaikalsky State National Park, where stationary hydrobiological and ichthiological research is allowed. Chivyrkui Bay is peculiar of the flora and fauna changes due to the change of depths and the gradual transition from the euthrophic type to the mesothrophic, and further to the oligothrophic one. The ecotones of marshes and hot springs can be studied at the station, also there are numerous bays with various morphometry and biota. Along with multiple surveys on parasitological situation changes in populations of hydrobionths and waterfowl carried out by the Institute, at the station ichthiological studies are conducted by the East Siberian Fisheries Center, Scientific and Research Institute of Biology of the Irkutsk University, Great Lakes Science Center of the US Geological Survey.
Biological institutions of Germany, Finland, Norway, and others are interested in research at the station.
Facilities: a laboratory of 49 sq m for 7 researchers, two dwelling houses for 6-7 quests and the staff of 10, Russian banya, summer kitchen and dining room.
The station is equipped with the Honda autonomous power station of 24,127 and 220 V, solar batteries for charging accumulators, and motor boats.
Meals are cooked by the staff on gas and wood fuel stoves.
There are tanks and a sectional plastic water pipe for water supply from the hay. Payment depends on the kind and amount of works, equipment rental, oil and lubricants use according to an agreement concluded.
