	YOUNG SCIENTISTS AND STUDENTS DECORATED WITH THE MEDALS OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES In September the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences summarized the results of the 1998 contest for young scientists and university students. The list of the winners includes Siberians also.
	NOVOSIBIRSK AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY Coming into the next millennium calls for immediate action or, at least, for serious contemplation. In Novosibirsk it took the shape of a scientific and practical conference (21st to 24th of September). The conference was called "Novosibirsk at the Turn of the 21st Century: prospects of Development and Opportunities of Investments" and was accompanied by an-exhibition-market "Investment Potentials of the City of Novosibirsk at the Turn of the 21st Century".
	A WORK FOR OIL REFINING AND PETROCHEMISTRY On September 26, Doctor of Chemistry Valery Duplyakin, a well-known specialist in catalists for a wide range of oil refining and petrochemical processes, celebrated his 60th anniversary.
	AN UNPRECEDENTED CASE IN NICE Eight young researchers from the Institute of Bio-organic Chemistry (Novosibirsk) were participants of the 26th International Congress of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies. The congress took place in France this summer.
