	ACADEMIC PRESS CONFERENCE Press conference of the governing body of the Siberian Branch on the topics “on the results of elections of full members and corresponding members of the RAS”, and “on the M.A.Lavrentiev Prizes awarding for 2003” has been held at the District Information Center "Siberia".
	WORTHY REINFORCEMENTS OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES The ranks of the Russian Academy of Sciences and, in particular, of its Siberian Branch have been filled up at the last General Meeting of the RAS in May, 2003. Right after the end of the Meeting where new Academicians and Corresponding members of the RAS have been elected, our correspondent has conducted an express interview to some of new members of the RAS.

	BIG GATHERING OF MATERIAL SCIENTISTS From June 2 to June 6, General meeting of Asia - Pacific Academy of Materials, dated for tenth anniversary of the APAM existence has been held at the House of Scientists of the SB RAS.
	MIXED-OXIDE FUEL WILL BE MADE IN SEVERSK At the end of April the governing body of the SCIC (the Siberian Chemical Industrial Complex, Tomsk Region, Closed Administrative Territorial Unit "Seversk") has held at the regional center a press conference on the planned construction of the MOF (Mixed-Oxide Fuel) plant on the building site of the Industrial Complex.
	THE UMREVA BURG: CONNECTION BETWEEN THE PAST AND THE PRESENT Year 2003 marks three hundred years since the first units of the Russian State such as burgs have appeared at the territory of Novosibirsk Region. One of them, the Umreva Burg (at Moshkovo District of the Novosibirsk Region now) was founded in 1703.
	ANCIENT HUNTER HAS MISSED... In September of the last year near to Khanty-Mansiysk, a unique find has been found out at the location of fossil mammoth faunae Lugovskoe: a vertebra of mammoth, punched by a tip of a spear belonging to a Paleolithic hunter.
