	HAPPY SCIENTIFIC START In the beginning of March the traditional ceremony of delivering the Tomsk Regional State Duma prizes-2009 to young scientist, students and schoolchildren took place for the seventh time.
	WHAT SHOULD BE TAKEN TO BEGIN? Russian science is waiting for changes. The signs of developing crisis are on hand: there are open letters from the groups of scientists in press; rigid, almost scandalous discussions in live broadcast; sharp statements of supreme officials concerning the problems of science and education, the founding of a new governmental department for science, high technologies and education, a tense nerve of colliding standpoints both at the General assembly of the RAS, and in coffee-tea discussions at scientific institutes.
	WITNESS FOR POOR HIRSH The article by Semen Samsonovich Kutateladze "Scientists and officials" ("SiS" No 6, February, 11, 2010) was written as a certain answer on the occassion of the article by a group of physicists "Modernization: the organization of science" ("Vedomosti" 04.02.2010). With no fundamental contradicting each other in determining the condition of contemporary Russian science to be more than sad, the articles (authors’ approaches) essentially differ from each other in individual standpoints.
