Almaty, Kazakhstan, September 10 — September 14, 2008

Welcome:

The conference continues a successful biannual series started in 1996 as the International Conference on Mathematical Models and Numerical Methods in Continuum Mechanics. It was held as Computational Technologies Conference in 1998 and 2000. Later the conference was relocated to Kazakhstan and broadened the agenda to include a wider spectrum of participants. After the initial success of Computational Technologies and Mathematical Models in Science, Engineering and Education in 2002 in Almaty, the conference was further extended to include an Information Technologies track. Since 2004 the conference is held under its present name.

In 2008 the conference will be held in Almaty, the largest and perhaps the most beautiful city in Kazakhstan. The former capital city of Kazakhstan it remains a major center of intellectual and cultural life in the Republic. It is still often referred as the Southern capital of Kazakhstan.

Al-Farabi National University, the host of the conference is one of the oldest Universities in the country that has recently undergone an important transformation into a dynamic and innovative center of research, education and technology.

In September Almaty is celebrating the season of harvesting apples, the nominal fruit of the city. Since the word "Almaty" is often translated from Kazakh as "rich with apples". September is probably the best time to visit this part of Kazakhstan. We welcome you to Almaty.
