V Russian-German School
on Parallel Programming
and High Performance Computing Systems

August 25 - September 5, 2008

Institute of Computational Technologies SB RAS
Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk, Russia

The goal of the V Russian-German Summer School is to invite young scientists to discuss modern parallel computing techniques, gain experience in using up-to-date hardware and exchange experience in solving practical problems on high performance computation systems of different architectures.

The agenda of the school consists of two courses. The first course is an introductory course into the technologies of parallel computing and their using in numerical modelling. The advanced course is designed for a detailed study of the methods for organization of high performance computations and performance improvement of parallel codes.

The course material is developed by experts from the High Performance Computing Center (HLRS, Stuttgart, Germany) and the Institute of Computational Technologies (ICT SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia). A workshop on the DUNE project is scheduled during the first week of the school. The workshop will be lead by the developers of the system from the University of Freiburg.

The scientific session will be held, where participants give presentations on their work related to the themes of the school. The topics of interest include but are not limited by

The Program Committee of the school reservers the right of final decision on the program. One or two page of an extended abstract of the presentations should be submitted via the registration form. Abstracts of the accepted presentations will be published in the proceedings.

The working languages of the School are English and Russian. Programming experience in Fortran or C is a prerequisite. For the DUNE workshop an experience with C++ will be an advantage.

There is no participation fee. Participants are responsible for their travel expenses and accommodation in Novosibirsk.

The organizing committee arranges a limited number of places in a hotel and in the campus of the Novosibirsk State University. Please register early.

Young scientists from the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, universities of Russia and CIS countries are invited to participate. Please fill in the online application form and send the application and an accompanying letter from the organization where the participant studies or works to the address of the School.
