In the paper the results of investigation of mathematical model for multi-stage substance synthesis without branching are represented. It has been demonstrated that the passage to the limit towards the model with infinite number of stages leads to an equation with retarded argument. The description of solutions characteristics of both finite-dimensional model and equation with retarded argument are given.
