Proposals for metadata element sets for scientific information resources

The report is devoted to the proposals for metadata element sets for scientific information resources of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the framework of the Unified Scientific Information Space project (USIS RAS). We consider the requirements, problems and tasks of establishing USIS RAS, a space of interconnected distributed heterogeneous information systems. We briefly outline the application domains and information resource types, which are planned to be presented in USIS. Further the report describes the principles used to describe metadata, and related standards and proposals for metadata schemas that were analyzed and used as a basis for USIS RAS schemas.
