The aim: to study some components of metabolic syndrome in the North inhabitants.
Materials: We studied the prevalence of overweigh, hypertension, dyslipidemia and hyperinsulinemia and their combinations in epidemiological study. We examined 596 native and 306 alien inhabitants of Evenkia in ages from 18 years and older.
Results: Overweigh in aliens was met 1.6 times more often (51.3% and 31.5%), hypertension -1.8 times more often (29.5% and 16.3%), hypertriglyceridemia - 11.7 times more often (36.2% and 3.1%), low HDL-cholesterol level - 12.6 times more often (30.2% and 2.4%), in comparison with natives (p<0.001). The combination of the disturbances allows to interpret the state as metabolic syndrome. 46.4% of natives and 9.8% of aliens did not have any of metabolic syndrome components. One component was shown in 25.6% native and 37.7% alien subjects. In the Evenks it was overweigh more often and in aliens – hypertriglyceridemia. The presence of 2 components simultaneously was marked in 20.8% natives and 36.1% aliens. The combination of 3 components of syndrome was revealed in 6.4% natives and in 11.2% aliens. 4 components of metabolic syndrome were found in 0.8% natives and 4.9% aliens of the North.
Insulin levels (5.65 ± 0.17 ìU/ L) and Ñ-peptide levels (0.40 ± 0.03 nmol/ L) in the Evenks turned to be considerably lower as compared with aliens (8.95 ± 0.45 mU/ L and 0.61 ± 0.04 nmol/ L). Hyperinsulinemia was marked only in one Evenk of the 412 tested (in a female with all four components of metabolic syndrome), which made 0.2% of all the target population. In aliens we revealed hyperinsulinemia in 5.5% male and 10.3% female.
Conclusion: the obtained data points at the fact that insulin resistance is rare in Evenkia native inhabitants.
