The serological markers of hepatitis B and C infections among the population of Turukhansk district of Krasnoyarsk Region were studied by using the licensed ELISA test kits. The blood samples were taken in 2000 year from 113 representatives of the indigenous population from several villages of this area and from 60 ethnic Russians from Turukhansk settlement. The indigenous population was presented by Kets and the offspring of mixed marriages between Kets, Selkups, and Evenks. The mean age of aboriginal subjects (59 women and 54 men) taken into study was 30.1 years (from 7 to 74). The mean age of Russian subjects (52 women and 8 men) - 39.4 years (10-72). Among aboriginal subjects the anti-HCV were found in 2 (1.8%) serum samples, HBsAg was found in 7 (6.2%), anti-HBc IgM – in 1 (0.9%), anti-HBc IgG – in 47 (41.6%), anti-HBs – in 28 (24.8%), anti-HBc IgG without HBsAg and anti-HBs – in 18 (15.9%). Among Russian subjects anti-HCV were found in 1 serum sample (1.7%), HBsAg – in 2 (3.3%), anti-HBc IgM - 0, anti-HBc IgG – in 22 (36.7%), anti-HBs – in 18 (30.0%), anti-HBc IgG without HBsAg and anti-HBs – in 7 (11.7%) samples. Using the Epi Info5.Ru program we did not find the significant differences in prevalence of serological markers of hepatitis B and C infections between the aboriginal and Russian samples. The nine HBsAg-positive samples were used for the HBsAg subtype determination in ELISA by the set of specific monoclonal antibodies. The subtype ayw3 was found in 6 serum samples out of 7. The ayw2 subtype was determined in 2 HBsAg-positives from Russians. Thus, the prevalence of anti-HCV in 2000 among the population of Turukhansk district of Krasnoyarsk Region was 1.7%, HBsAg – 5.2%. Two antigenic subtypes of HBsAg were found - ayw3 è ayw2 that prevailing in the donor blood samples all over Russia.
