Introduction and aim: To study the reasons of low prevalence of «metabolic» diseases in native inhabitants of the North.

Study design and methods: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus, ischemic heart disease, cholelithias in Northern population was studied by metaanalysis technique for the last 10 years. In 329 Europoids and 444 mongoloids from northern regions of Siberia we determined the lipid spectrum in blood serum and bile.

Results: The prevalence of «metabolic» diseases was remarkably higher in alien population as compared to native inhabitants. The content of common cholesterol in blood serum was higher in alien inhabitants; bile lipoid concentration - in natives. The ratio primary/secondary bile acids was in liver bile in mongoloids - 2,7, in aliens – 1,5.

Conclusion: The mechanism causes low frequency of «metabolic» diseases in native people of the North is powerful system of ejecting common cholesterol in blood serum out of organism, which is based on the intensive synthesis of bile acids in liver and active transportation of sterins into bile.
