Krasnoyarsk region is the most remote Arctic and the largest territory of the Russian Federation. One of the problems in Siberia is diabetes care. The problem associated with giant territory of region and remote of patients from diabetes centers. Often the diabetic patients stay alone with disease in far northern villages, without special diabetes care. As the result, the poor metabolic control takes place, early development of vascular complications and high mortality from acute and chronic diabetic complications. With the rapid development information and communication technologies (ICT) for diabetes treatment has attracted considerable attention as a promising medical system. A usual internet connection and telemedicine will bring benefit for patients, physicians and medical professionals in distant Siberian areas. In this symposium, we compare the usefulness and costs of this systems from our experience and discuss the actual conditions of ICT and telemedicine for diabetes care in Siberia. For example, the polar village Svetlogorsk is located about 1700 km away from Krasnoyarsk. In Svetlogorsk live about 1500 citizens. There are 30 diabetics type 2 and one 3 years old girl with diabetes type 1. There is only one flight per week from Svetlogorsk to Krasnoyarsk. We used a usual modem technology connecting diabetologist from the Institute for Medical Studies of the North in Krasnoyarsk and pediatrician in Svetlogorsk hospital to help in treatment the small girl with diabetic ketoacidosis. Ñonclusion. Telemedicine technology is indeed sound, effective, cost-effective, and practical in polar regions of Siberia.
