RESEARCH CHALLENGES AND CRITERIA DEVELOPMENT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSONNEL SELECTION FOR WORKING BY SHIFT METHOD IN THE FAR NORHT CONDITIONS

Yamburggazdobycha Ltd operates in the climatic conditions of the Far North practically unbearable for people’s permanent living. It is connected with additional impact of Earth’s mag-netic field changes, low oxygen content in the air, violations of daily periodicity of the polar day and night on the man. Therefore the work is done by interregional and intraregional shift method and labour resources are attracted from regions with good climatic conditions, with developed industrial and social infrastructure and labor reserve.

Medical-biological researches conducted in the northern regions of Russia showed that not only climatic conditions and their contrasts, day light aperiodicity in particular but shift work-rest schedule and social-psychological conditions of the shift way of life influence on the health.

Shift way of life – is the process, development of which is accompanied by changes of such parameters as orientation of the personality, self-satisfaction, aiming at labor activity and human relations. As medical-biological researches prove from point of view of health violation prophylaxis total duration of northern shifts plays a significant role. The terms of working in the Far North by shift method is one of the key reasons determining «accumulation» of harmful im-pact of extreme effects.

Another psychosocial factor should be taken into consideration- psycho emotional ten-sion in other words different adverse emotional states. They are connected with dissatisfaction of main life needs, on the development of which people’s life conditions, social demographic pa-rameters, personal qualities, family relations, domestic problems and so on can influence on.

Consequently it is necessary to study the level of psycho emotional tension and influenc-ing on it factors of those who work by shift method in the far North. Theses researches must be conducted in two directions. First it is necessary to solve the problem of diagnosing main emo-tional states, which comprise psycho emotional tension (stress, anxiety, and satisfaction level). Secondly it is necessary to reveal all the reasons causing psycho emotional tension.

The structure of social-psychological monitoring of the personnel in the management sys-tem of the shift method work of the Company envisages carrying out social-psychological re-searches, personnel selection and assessment, periodic testing of managers and collaborators, recommended for managerial personnel reserve. Besides in the framework of researching shift method of work it is necessary to provide solving practical tasks in two main ways:

· Usage of active psychological techniques enabling: 1. study personal qualities; emotional-volitional and psycho physiological states, psy-chological qualities and physiological characteristics; and also communicative quali-ties of those who work by shift method.

2. analyze the impact of extreme factors on the personality of the collaborators working by shift method. 3. establish and analyze regularities of all the operative psychosocial factors impact which influence on the personality and behavior of shift workers.

development of practical recommendations for specialists of different fields, working in the Company with the purpose of increasing activity effectiveness (psychognostic investigation)

Twenty-year experience of developing the Yamburg and Zapolyarnoye deposits proved doubtless economic efficiency of the shift method of work in the Far North regions. At the same time a set of psychologically unfavorable factors affecting on shift workers and their family members were revealed. The necessity to improve work-rest schedule, shift duration, implemen-tation of advanced technologies in the selection and manpower utilization has been proved.

In the connection with it there appears a problem of developing psychological criteria of professional selection of shift workers for «Yamburggazdobycha» Ltd, and in the long view – in JSC Gazprom developing gas deposit in the Far North regions by shift method. In various re-searches it is stated that man’s psychological qualities play a significant role in the forecasting his capacity for work in the shift schedule. They influence on activity successfulness/ unsuccess-fulness, mobilization/ disorganization of internal reserves of the organism. The necessity of se-lection proved by practice and doesn’t require any proofs. But setting such a task requires the answer to the questions of general principles of selection, criteria and techniques of its conduct-ing.
