Implementation and Results of a Model Canadian Health Survey– the First Nations Regional Longitudinal Health Survey (RHS).

The First Nations Regional Longitudinal Health Survey (RHS) is the only national research process under complete First Nations control in Canada. The presenters will provide an overview of:

·The First Nations principles of Ownership, Control, Access and Possession (OCAP) and the processes and structure that make the RHS the "First Nations survey of choice" and a model for other research

·Innovations in holistic survey content, First Nations sample design and computer assisted interviewing.

·The First Nations cultural/interpretive framework paired with methodological rigour.

·Use of the survey results for advocacy, policy development, decision-making and programming.

·Highlights of the adult, youth and children's results in various areas.
