Introduction. It is known that puberty and menstrual function are the main indices of women health. The ecological factors of the North impact on specific (reproductive women functions, including a menstrual cycle) and nonspecific mechanisms of organism protection (antioxidants, adaptogenes).

Purpose. To compare activity of lipid peroxidation and nonspecific components of antioxidant protection in women of reproductive age in different menstrual phases.

Material and methods. Two groups of women 17-22 aged with normal a menstrual cycle, living in Novosibirsk (n=130) and being born in Norilsk (n-98) have been compared. The level of final lipid peroxidation product on malonic dialdehyde (MDA), content of reduced glutation (RG) and tocopherol (TF) were estimated.

Results. It was shown that in the 1st phase of a menstrual cycle the level of MDA was increased, in the 2nd –decreased and more greatly in women, living in Novosibirsk. RG content wasn’t dependent on a menstrual phase, however it was decreased in women, living in Norilsk. TF concentration was higher in the 1st menstrual phase than in the 2nd and was lower in women of Norilsk. Decrease of MDA level was observed in the middle of a cycle (10-15 days) and became to increase in more late periods. Maximum TF content was also in the middle of a cycle (11-14 days) and it was decreased during the rest days. Women from Novosibirsk had repeated dynamics. The decreased TF content was observed in the middle of a cycle, that reflected on the reproductive function. In this group there was a great number of unfavorable pregnancies as compared to women from Novosibirsk.

Conclusion. Dynamics of indices of the system lipid peroxidation/antioxidants according to the days of a menstrual cycle in women from Norilsk is analogous to women from Novosibirsk. Some peculiarities of TF in different days of a menstrual cycle point out the efficiency of their application in the North.
