Simonova G.

Institute of Internal Medicine of SB RAMS (Novosibirsk)

In populations of different regions of Siberia from all of the range of chronic non-communicable diseases we research such as: cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and others which hold general factors of a risk. In 1984 in Novosibirsk were begun studies of WHO project MONICA, together with other optional projects. Scanning such factors of the mortality as cancer, CVD, anemia and of such risk factors as: nutrition, lipid profile, blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, microelements, level of vitamins contain. In other Siberian regions (Yakutia, Chukotka, Transbaikalia, Altay) we occasionally hold screenings of representative samplings and register of chronic non-communicable disease’s morbidity and mortality.

In Siberia the hypertension extension is very high: about 50 % in 25-64 age group, in northern aboriginals – more rarely, in south-east populations – more often. Cerebral stroke morbidity and mortality in Siberia is very high, especially in south-east regions, while there are small number of CHD cases. Coronary heart disease if consider the epidemiological criteria encounters 10-13 % of Caucasian population.
