One of the parameters of homeostasis is balance of processes of lipid peroxidation (POL) and antioxidant protection (AOP). Taking into account key role of POL processes in pathogenesis of complicated pregnancy we examined 112 women (51.14%) of Buryat nationality and 107 (48.9%) women of Russian nationality with moderate and high perinatal risk.

POL intensity was evaluated for the content of peroxidation products and indices of oxidizability of substrata saturated with double bonds. At complicated pregnancy of moderate degree of perinatal risk in representatives of Buryat population in comparison to Russian patients we observed activation of POL processes (increase of level of double bounds for 13%, ketodienes and coupled trienes – 48%, diene conjugates –15%). At the same time we registered activation of AOP role due activity of enzymatic chain at reduction of pool of molecular antioxidants and ratio of general antioxdant activity to index of oxidizability. At high degree of perinatal risk in pregnant Buryat women as against Russian patients we marked reduction of the level of intermediate peroxidation products – ketodienes and - trienes for 34% when basal level of reduced glutathione and activity of superoxide dismutase.

Described characteristics of metabolism in different ethnic groups are probably the basis of pathogenesis of complications of pregnancy and outcome of labor.

Perinatal risk factors have expressed influence on patients of Buryat nationality that have labor accompanied by week birth activity and high volume of hemorrhage.

Revealed characteristics of lipid metabolism are evolutionary formed mechanisms that are evident not only in healthy people women but also save the specificity at different pathological states and they should be taken into account during medical and preventive measures during observation of patients in different ethnic groups.
