Ethnocultural comparisons in epidemiology of schizophrenia

Issues of prevalence of schizophrenia, factors defining the structure and formation of this pathology, its course and outcomes, continue to remain the leading in epidemiology of mental diseases. There are some data indicating the influence of regional peculiarities on indices of the level of schizophrenia sick rate in the population. Siberian regions of the country being characterized by extreme and sub-extreme conditions of life, heterogeneous structure of the population conditioned by historic development of the Kray, ethnic diversity of the population undoubtedly are reflected with schizophrenia prevalence in population exert modifying influence on clinical-dynamic characteristics of the process, its outcomes.

Many-level clinical-dynamic study of schizophrenia allowed to obtain priority data on prevalence of this pathology in regions of Siberia and Far East,; identify common characteristics and regional peculiarities of clinical-dynamic structure of schizophrenia, its remote forms and manifestations of disease depending on contribution of social-demographic factors and ethnic attribution of patients.
