(Chita)

During ten years specialists of pediatric regional consulting and diagnostic center were investi-gating the children who live in the north of Transbaykaliya. The purpose of the research is the study of children’s health. The research included the collection of anamnesis, clinical examina-tion, functional and laboratory methods.

Children’s morbidity didn’t depend upon their nationality: Evenk children nationality - 2263‰, Russian – 2567,4‰ (p>0,05). Gastrointestinal disorders were determined to spread wide. More than half of children (68%) suffered from caries. Every third patient had both pathology of gas-troduodenal and the bileduct systems.

Endocrine pathology rate was rather high. Endemic thyroid disease comprised the main group (76%). The cases of congenital hypothyrosis were not registered among children. However, high level of functional nervous and psychic pathology confirmed negative influence of iodine defi-ciency of on health. Group and individual iodine preventive measures were carried out in the north of Transbaikaliya. The data obtained proved the effectiveness of this work. Preventive measures decreased the incidence of endemic thyroid disease: for example, from 24% to 19% (p<0,05) among children (aged 10-12) who lived in Chara (the most northen part of Transbayka-liya).

Acute pathology predominated among respiratory diseases. The incidence of bronchial asthma didn’t depend upon nationality of children (Evenk-patient – 3,4%, Russian – 4,6%; p>0,05). Evenk children suffered from otitis more often than Russian patients (p<0,05). Chronic purulent otitis was registered in 22% of children. That showed the significance of problem. Chita Region program “Healthy Child” includes medical, psychological and social measure for maternity of protection, sanitation of children and prevention of common pediatric diseases.
