Today there are no clear criteria for prognosis the failure of adaptive mechanisms with development of disadaptation and pathology of inner organs. It explains by conducting analysis of only some indices (biochemical, functional, structural) separately from adaptative and disadaptative phases, without taking into consideration background states. As the example, there is northern tissue hypoxia, being a base for development of the polar tension syndrome and somatic diseases.

Purpose. To reveal the biochemical indices, being suitable for markers of risk development for somatic diseases in the Far North.

Material and methods. A total of 95 males-shift-workers of JS “Yamburggasdobycha” were examined. Assessment of biochemical parameters, including products of lipid peroxidation (LPO) on level of malonovic dyaldehyde (MDA) in blood serum, sulfhydrilic group (SH-groups) content, glutationreductase activity (GR), ceruloplasmin content (CP) and glycosaminoglycans (GAG) have been conducted

Results. The examination have demonstrated that MDA, GAG, GR activity were connected with each other and reflected extracellular matrix tension, depending on endogenic antioxidant protection. Among the examined, a group of 3 persons, which could be related to practically healthy persons because the examined parameters were close to physiological ones could be distinguished (Group 0). A group risk Group 1) composed 22,2% of the examined males. They had activated LPO, normal GR activity and some sings of changed extracellular matrix exchange (GAG content was in 5 times higher as compared to group0). The largest group (71,1%) composed persons, occupying a intermediate position. The trend for accumulation of LPO products with decreased GR activity was typical for them( risk group 2). This group should be of great attention for doctors because in dependence on different situations (physical and psychological overloadings, sleep and feeding disorders) it can become a risk group 1. At the same time, at timely prevention, aimed at activation of endogenic mechanisms of antioxidant protection and increase of nonspecific organism resistance ,this group can become group 0.

Conclusion. The results testify about possibilities to apply a complex of biochemical markers to reveal different risk groups for development of somatic pathologies in northerners. Formation of risk groups should be conducted in terms of correlation, detected on days of shifts and duration of living in the North.
