Introduction: we investigated apolipoprotein E promoter polymorphism (-491A/T) and its influence on plasma lipid levels, blood glucose level and blood pressure in caucasian population of Novosibirsk city. Materials and methods: The study included 150 men in Novosibirsk aged 25-64. The genotypes were determined by original polymerize chain reaction. The plasma lipid levels were determined by standard enzymatic assays.
Results: The frequencies of promoter APOE gene A and T alleles in Novosibirsk population were 80.3% and 19.7% respectively. The frequencies of genotypes AA, AT, TT in Novosibirsk population were 62.7%, 35.3% è 2.0%. Systolic blood pressure in patients with genotypes AA, AT, TT in Novosibirsk was 131.71.7, 124.22.6, 120.511.2 mm Hg (pANOVA=0,017). Diastolic blood pressure in patients with genotypes AA, AT, TT in Novosibirsk was 85.61.1, 80.31.6, 77.67.1 mm Hg (pANOVA=0,015).
Discussion: The differences of plasma lipid levels and plasma glucose levels between genotypes are not significant. We found the significant difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure between genotypes in Caucasian. Protective effect of T allele on systolic and diastolic blood pressure was revealed in population of Novosibirsk.
