University Library Consortiums of Spain: interaction experience in conditions of digital information space

Within the bounds of Spanish library realm the beginning of a cooperation process dates from the 80th of XX c. The first steps have been taken in development of interaction of separate centres united by specialization of their collections. In 1988 the first consortium REBIUN was created. It consolidates now more than 70 libraries and regards development and improvement of the digital information space as one its main strategic tasks.

Apart from national consortium in the last decade regional library associations and these of users of certain programme products used in Spanish Universities are promoted.
