An automation of information support of especially protected territories monitoring at the coast of the Finnish gulf

From 1997 complex examination of two small nature protection territories located in the limits of St.-Petersburg at the Southern and Northern coast of the Finnish gulf: “Strelna shore” (40 hectares ) and “Komarov shore” (180 hectares) are executed. Observations were conducted for birds during spring and autumnal migrations, nested period. Apart from it, the specific structure is discovered and the features of distribution of plants with use of the routing record-keepings and accounts on sites enveloping all the inspected territory were determined. The damage from natural disasters (gale-force winds, floods) and anthropoge-nous effect was in parallel evaluated.

Information technologies on the basis of geoinformation systems and data bases with the purposes of the analysis and mapping distribution of plants and birds were fulfilled on this material. The data bases were formed by means of Access2000 and programming on VB and VBA. For each from nature protection territories they include till 9 tables and ac-cording to the same amount of the forms for input and editing of data. In each table the in-formation on one from nine categories is accumulated: a bird, plant, insects, a phenology of trees and bushes, a phenology of grassy plants, a hydrometeorology, a natural disaster, an anthropogenous impact, an album of birds. The tables on birds number 3500 records for “Strelna shore ” about observations in 1997-2001 on 130 species of birds and 400 records for “Komarov shore ” - on 65 species of birds in 1999-2000. The registration documenta-tion on the both nature protection territories are also represented as data bases.

To create geoinformation systems (GIS) the software package Idrisi32 (a donation of the Clark Labs, USA) is used. Maps of distribution of trees, bushes and grassy vegetation on species are called from “List of plants” form by a reference. The total of maps for “Strelna shore” is 35 and 52 - for the second nature protection territory. There are also maps of projective cover degree of grassy vegetation, degree of sheltering of tree krones, distribution of blow-down wind break, places of anthropogenous impact. Brought in the data base of the GIS the outcomes of the record-keepings on quadrats allow operatively to create in addition new maps, using means of Idrisi32 automation.

The secondary use of data bases has allowed to reveal the negative tendencies in the specific structure of birds and plants, and also factors, defining the state of the animal and plant kingdom of “Strelna shore ” and “Komarov shore”. These two nature protection ter-ritories are practical for including in the Ecological net of the Northern Eurasia, and the ac-cumulated experience of information support can be used in the time of a development of unified information technologies for this net.
