Scientific researches aiming in development of remote sensing (RS) techniques engages considerable material and intellectual resources. The effective management of these resources means, first of all, the support and updating of services that should provide all necessary conditions for the profound analysis of all the registered experimental data. This is the reason why the essential increase of efficiency of the RS scientific projects is caused by creation and/or modernization of their information systems (IS) support. Such support can be supplied not only by IS developed within the frame of separate research projects, but as well by systems that been formed irrespectively of the separate projects, namely within on the basis of specialized information centers. Creation and maintenance of such IS infrastructures are impossible without usage of achievements of modern information technologies.

UISFSR develops the distributed system infrastructure for space data management that consists of the set of archives and is supported by hardware/software facilities allowing the exchanges of catalogue and accompanying information in on-line mode. This infrastructure should allow to conduct general and detailed search of space data, and also to support the preparation of orders for data procuring. At the first stage of activity the infrastructure includes facilities of 3 centers of the space and natural resource information: 1) Center of Processing and Storaging the Space Information in IRE RAS, 2) Space Monitoring Information Support Laboratory in IKI RAS, 3) the "Mineral" Center in IGEM RAS. The main attention at this stage of work is put on refinement of the system specification, details of interchange and archive formats, and also to development of software prototypes ensuring metadata exchanges between clusters of a system and accesses to system information resources.

Along with the description of space data system the report provides the detail scheme of operation of its standard cluster. The following cluster subsystems are considered in details: 1) System of archiving and exchanging the space data sets, 2) System of data processing, 3) System of metadata management, 4) System of catalogue management, 4) System of external users’ support.

The basis of UISFSR development formed the experience acquired during the realization of the International Project «PRIRODA» on Space Station «Mir».
