The features of propagation of linear waves with horizontal and vertical polarization (Love and Rayleigh waves) over the free surface of saturated porous medium with vertical inhomogeneity are investigated. It is established that there is a number of modes of surface waves of Love and Rayleigh in the porous medium. For the few first modes the dependence of phase velocity and linear attenuation decrement on frequency are studied. The depth dependence of displacements of particles of the porous medium for the few first modes at a given frequency is investigated. The features of motion of solid and liquid phases during Love and Rayleigh wave propagation are determined.
