Variational principles and splitting technique

Penenko V.V.

IVM&MG SB RAS (Novosibirsk)

Some aspects of the construction of mathemathical models and their discrete analogs on the base of variational principle in the combination with splitting technique are discussed. The approach proposed is an advancement of the N.N.Yanenko's idea of application of weak approximation for numerical splitting schemes design. The problems of ecology and climate are used as examples. Numerical models constructed with the help of proposed methodology posess the conservational laws. Direct, inverse, and adjoint problems as well as sensitivity theory methods are considered.
