In the present paper practical application of WENO schemes for solving problems of supersonic aerodynamics is considered. Algorithms for solving the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations based on these schemes are described. A new WENO scheme having, in particular, substantial advantages when solving the equations in the general curvilinear coordinates is put forward. Numerous examples of sumulation of 2D and 3D flows with complicated configurations of interacting gasdynamic discontinuities are given. The problems under considrations include shock wave propagation and diffraction, shock/shock and shock/boundary layer interactions, development of hydrodynamic intabilities in high-speed free shear flows, shock wave structure of over/underexpanded supersonic jets. The results give evidence of robustness and very high accuracy of the algorithms used. For some flows, high-quality numerical schlieren images and interferograms are compared with experimental pictures.
