With the STN Messenger command language and the Chemical Abstracts (CA) database, available in the STN International global network of scientific and technical information, the online bibliometric analysis of the “Chemistry for Sustainable Development” journal, publishing by the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1993, has been performed for the first time. The clear-cut multidisciplinary character of the journal has been observed. The journal most active authors and organizations along with its most cited authors and publications, international distribution of its citations, etc., have been identified. The journal impact factor has been estimated for the first time as 0.22 for the year 2002. It has been concluded that for chemical journals non-covered by the Journal Citation Report publishing by the Institute for Scientific Information in USA the bibliometric analysis based on the CA database could be reasonable alternative.
