Novel paradigm of usable home LANs

In response to growing market demand for home multimedia services such as audio, video, and data transmission, a residential network is becoming an important utility to digital home. The R&D trend of home network is a technology based on wired or wireless Ethernet. On this way some progress has been made. But QoS supporting problem is not solved yet. Thus, the problem of congestion management is considered by the IEEE 802.3 Working Group (IEEE P802.3ar, Congestion Management Task Force). The focus of efforts to produce QoS supporting scheme seems a complication of Ethernet technique by a modification of the resource reservation protocol. Let us also remark a turning of Ethernet network is sensible to home environment which may differ. But general user is not expert in network protocols. Tacking into account home network usability, we offer the novel home network paradigm. The permissibility of low utilization of home network channels is assumed. The core of proposed technique is predefined schedule of connections opening known as semaphore commutation.
