In a multi-service IP network, it is a key challenge to provide QoS and survivability to end-user applications. To deliver a reliable service, IP/MPLS networks exploit a set of procedures that protects the traffic flows carried on different paths. Furthermore, Constrained-based path computation is the main building block of an MPLS node, since it allows to select primary and back-up paths that satisfy pre-assigned QoS requirements.
The paper presents a performance analysis of MPLS-based recovery strategies when different path computation algorithms are taken into account. The research activity has been performed by using a set of NS2 software modules developed in previous works by the authors of this paper.
