The numerical simulation of shear localization

A finite element method for the numerical simulation of shear bands is used. Plane strain problems are considered. A reasonable postulate is that the bandwidth has a mesh size. Shear bands by a system of curvilinear slits on the finite elements mesh are represented. The strong discontinuity approach by means of various conditions is possible. Programs for numerical calculations are developed. The exact solution for the elastic ring with shear bands in the form of the equiangular spirals is constructed.
