Differential constraints and determining equations

A construction of differential constraints compartible with nonlinear evolution equations is considered. We apply certain linear determining equations to find such constraints. These equations generalize the classical determining equations in the search for admissible Lie operators.

As applications of this approach non-linear diffusion equations and equations of an ideal incompressible fluid are considered. We give some examples of exact solutions.
