Detonation MHD-generator of high pressure

Derevianko V.V.

A computational model of detonation MHD-generator with T-layer[1] is presented. The model is based on the set of nonstationary one-dimensional equations of gas dynamics for polytropic gas. The processes of radiative transport, detonation, interaction of T-layer with magnetic field were taken into account. An equation of radiation transfer were solved using multigrop approach and makes it possible to model an effect of suppressing of radiation. The model allows us to study the dynamics of motion in the generator channel and the effect of generator parameters on its operating mode.

A numerical results of computational experiments for the generator with air-hydrogen and oxygen-hydrogen combustion mixture, variable section of the channel and constant resistance of the load of high pressure are presented.

It's showed, that a detonation MHD-generator with T-layer with high pressure in the channel has a high efficiency (~12%), high specific power of generator (~500 MWt/m^3) and significant characteristic size of T-layer (~30 cm). It makes possible to expect a creation of the workable detonation MHD-generator.
